Manveer Ryait, welding student at ������ý���߹ۿ�

“I really enjoyed working with my dad, who taught me many skills,” says Manveer. “However, I didn’t have any valid certification that would allow me to turn my skills into a career.” Unfortunately, just before moving to Victoria with his wife, his father passed away suddenly. “This caused a large financial burden as I became the breadwinner for the rest of my family,” says Manveer. “Paying for trade school became a barrier, as most of my earnings were tied up in keeping the business and taking care of family needs.”

Once he started in the Welding Foundations program at Camosun, he learned about the student grants available. “I achieved near-perfect grades and could pay full attention to my studies with these grants,” says Manveer. He appreciates his time at Camosun and the instructors. “They’re really well-experienced in their fields and are very professional,” says Manveer. “They give you on-the-job experience. Having almost 90% practical experience is one of the best parts of Camosun life.”
