After much discussion and thought with leadership in the education division and a review of commonly accepted divisions in the post-secondary sector, Camosun will be redistributing faculty, instructors, staff, and student numbers, while restructuring the delivery of education services into five areas of study. We have worked to minimize the impact and set the college up for future success.听
These changes follow the budget reduction measures in response to the federal government鈥檚 recent reforms to the international student program. As a result of these challenges, we have prioritized the needs of learners and focused on college sustainability, while positioning the college for a full and robust recovery.听
Arts, Access and Academic Preparation听
Arts, Access, and Academic Preparation will include Indigenous Studies, Access-level language studies, English, math and special programs. This structure supports university transfer pathways and balances portfolio sizes.听

Business will include Sport Management, consolidating business-based programming and achieving portfolio balance. Sport Management aligns well with other management programs.听
Health, Human Services and Sport Science听
Health, Human Services, and Sport Science brings together health, wellness, and sport programming, consistent with common post-secondary alignments. There is an intent to create synergies between common core content, clinic operations, and portfolio management. Programs will include Kinesiology, Massage Therapy, and Athletic Therapy.听
Science and Technology听
Science and Technology consolidates STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) programming into a single school, creating opportunities for stronger connections between computer science and engineering programs. STEM is a widely recognized grouping within the post-secondary and secondary education environments and aligns very well with provincial and federal government priorities. This area will include Camosun Innovates.听
Trades, Training and Professional Studies听
Combining Trades, Training, and Professional Studies will enhance the efficiency of operations for short-term programs, micro-credentials, and industry training opportunities. It will also make the best use of the college鈥檚 continuing education structure and the unique structure of trades education.听
Changes will come into effect gradually. There will continue to be supports and services in place for students.听
Ey膿蕯 Sq葍鈥檒ewen 鈥 The Centre for Indigenous Education and Community Connection (IECC)听
IECC will continue to support Indigenous learners in programs and courses across the college. Indigenous programs and courses will be delivered within schools.听
These are significant changes, and it will take time for things to fully settle. There may also be additional adjustments to ensure we have a model that allows the college to give students the best possible educational experience.听
