In her third year of the Athletic and Exercise Therapy (AET) program, Erica posted an 8.25 GPA and on the volleyball court, her accolades include:

- PACWEST Championship All-Star
- CCAA All-Canadian

"We are incredibly proud of David and Erica for earning this academic honour and their athletic achievements this past season,鈥 said Laura Mitchell, Director, Student Affairs. 鈥淏alancing the demands of athletics and academics requires exceptional discipline and commitment, and this recognition is a testament to their hard work both on the court and in the classroom."
鈥淎s a student-athlete, playing sport has given my life significant structure that has helped me prioritize my time in order to be as successful as possible in sport and school. Being a student-athlete has developed my work ethic, time management and problem-solving skills that have contributed to my academic success,鈥 said Finch. 鈥淭he support and encouragement I have received from my coaches, teammates, and athletic department members have all provided me with additional motivation and resources to strive for excellence in the classroom and on the court.鈥
鈥淏eing both a varsity athlete and student in the AET program has been a huge part of my success in school. The two roles constantly build on each other as it has made me a better athlete because I understand my body more and helped stay healthy throughout the season,鈥 Bolink said. 鈥淚t has also made me a better student as I have experienced what it is like to push through long practices, deal with injuries, and manage the mental side of sport. That perspective helps me relate to the athletes I work with and drives me to support others the way I have been supported. Balancing the demands of both volleyball and school has definitely taught me discipline and time management, but more than that, it has made me passionate about what I do.鈥
The CCAA Academic All-Canadian Award recognizes student-athletes who achieve an honours standing in academics combined with an elite athletic achievement.
The Camosun Chargers Athletics Program currently fields teams in basketball and volleyball. Since joining the CCAA and Pacific West Athletic Association (PACWEST) conferences in 1994, the Chargers have competed in over 100 national and provincial championships with over 50 medal winning finishes.
